Frequency Variator
DESCRIPTION
The speed and frequency variators of LUIS CAPDEVILA, S.A., have been designed to control three-phase asynchronous motors with a squirrel cage rotor in a star connection, and they are especially designed for ventilation applications. They can likewise be used for single-phase motors (inquire). In addition to controlling speed, the variator can perform the functions of a run switch, a starter and a star-delta switch, as well as the function of a safety element (given that it has to be reset in the event of a power outage) and an element for protection against electrical discharges (given that it disconnects in the event of a short circuit). Given that the need for smoke extraction from a kitchen varies considerably throughout a day and that frequently the periods when maximum extraction is required are relatively short, it is highly advantageous to be able to reduce the fan extraction speed.
The following is thereby achieved:
– Unlike voltage regulators, which allow reducing the speed but which do not offer a significant reduction of consumption, frequency variators provide A REDUCTION OF MORE THAN 80% IN ELECTRICAL CONSUMPTION, thereby allowing the equipment to be amortised in less than one year.
– MORE COMFORT as a result of the considerable NOISE reduction, for both employees and neighbours.
– FEWER ILLNESSES thanks to the reduction of air currents.
– LONG-LASTING AND LOWER MAINTENANCE of the motors.
